Spring ~ Staying Healthy With The Seasons

Welcome Glorious Spring!

Wake up! Spring in all it's freshness is here. It's time to shed that winter coat and cheer, dance, adopt the pace and playfulness of nature...and blossom your dreams!

This is nature's birthing season- the time of creation and development.

March 21st marks the birthing of spring. Extended Daylight and the sun are the spring's equinox of a luminous, dominant blessing, which gives one an excellent opportunity to examine his/her life for some dynamic, seasonal plans and changes.

And a good place to start, is by understanding the condition of your health.

The ruling organ of the spring season is the LIVER! And this reddish-brown, military organ, shows up in many ways when enduring an imbalance. Indicators of a compromised liver include dry, cracked, brittle fingernails and toenails. The appendages may appear dull and yellow. The eyes being very connected to the liver, may become red and irritated easily. The whites may show up with a yellow(jaundice) tinge. The eyes often suffer poor vision and severe dehydration morphed into dry eye syndrome. There is often a painful sensation as if a gritty-sandstorm is blasting through the eyes with burning, tearing assaults.

There is a strong "SOS"-cry for help, during this season, that beckons a call to duty, to maintain the whole body, mind and spirit. However, the liver demands attention, and its commandeering spirit lifts its head and roars...as it may want to appear to be a bully. But, truly, this taskmaster, fierce bully spirit is what is necessary to get the liver back into balance, & full performing function.

SPRING CLEANING- INSIDE AND OUT.

"And no one puts new wine in old wineskins, but    they put NEW WINE INTO FRESH WINESKINS, and both are preserved". Matthew 9:17

What do you want to clear out of your life as the past, in your environment and within yourself? Would you like to see/feel a fresh transition and new shift, towards a healthy lifestyle change, in your total being, your abode, workplace, relationships, maybe even your vehicle? If so, start by making your liver happy, humming and functioning optimally...the way God intended it to operate.

Spring is the GREENING season. Provisions of planting and gardening, seed to sprout, nature awakens in her green, flowery and budding beauty. New growth in our lives, relationships and our work is re-energized and stimulated as well. Specific and select greens make the liver happy, and vital, especially after overindulgences during the winter months.

A well planned LIVER CLEANSE to purge the body of it's toxins, can bring harmony to every organ in the body. A sluggish liver can show up in a weakened digestion, a compromised gallbladder, depleted energy levels, complexion disorders and emotional disharmony. A faulty diet of nicotine, alcohol, medicines, drugs, sleeplessness and toxic relationships can all contribute to a dysfunctional liver. Over-exposure to the sun, X-rays, harsh commercial and household cleaners/disinfectants, fuels, environmental chemicals, poisons, weed killers, industrial paints & fire retardents are all suicide to the liver. And the worst toxic foods are processed foods and deep fried foods, particularly French fries. Rich foods should be monitored. Heavy dairy.

This organ particularly craves and thrives on bitter, pungent, sour and water.

Start out slow and easy with any cleanse. Just a simple change like squeezing a quarter teaspoon of lemon in warm water and making this your first drink in the morning, can make a tremendous difference and initiate a safe start to a cleanse.

Fruit juicing/smoothies provide an enjoyable source to purge the liver of unwanted waste. Choose alkaline fruits...apples, boysenberries, pears, papayas, grapes and pineapples are excellent choices.

All vegetables are alkaline, including squash and potatoes.

I encourage broths made from celery, squashes, green leafys and carrots. Broth cleansing is safe, inexpensive and helps the liver lighten it's load - and can be consumed several times a day. For deeper cleansing/fasting lasting more than 3 days, refer to a qualified health and wellness coach.

 * As your liver becomes detoxified, so will your intestines. Each organ of the body will begin to take notice and will follow in a detox mode as well.

The organs of the body might also be referred to as wineskins.

Most illnesses are a result of excess toxins (physical, mental and emotional unusable materials) in the body. Healing is the elimination or cleansing of these toxins, and then achieving a balance of intake and output.

WHAT THE LIVER LOVES and was created for.

There is an incredible abundance of natures harvest available right now and even more on the way, as the season progresses. Lean towards the green leafy ones, such as kale, dandelion greens, mustard greens, spinach and swiss chard.

A quiet environment, massage, steam rooms, praying, meditation, sleep, exercise, forgiveness, playtime, laughter, perfect weather, joy, conscious breathing, dancing, cellular tissue cleansing (mindful fasting),moderate colonics. lymphatic therapy, body scrubs, creativity & mindfulness are crown jewels to the liver.
The liver is our largest internal organ and is located right above the abdomen. It is the body's master laboratory, storing and distributing nourishment for the entire body.  It filters toxins from the blood stream. It's hepatic cells make bile, which aids in digestion, which is stored in the gallbladder, and then to be used in the intestines, for emulsification of fats. The liver manufactures prothrombin, which helps in blood clotting, and assist with two anticoagulants, which prevent blood clotting: antithrombin and heparin. It can form vitamin A aid in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins (amino acids)

SKIN IMBALANCES AND A COMPROMISED LIVER.

The condition of our skin exposes one of the most obvious indicators, that the liver may have issues. The elbows and feet develop extreme dryness. Wearing shoes can often be painful to the toes and the soles, as callouses and corns begin to develop and harden. Weekly footbaths help to alleviate the pain and build up.

Find a manicurist or podiatrist that can assist you in a regular diet of pedicures. Have the service therapist sand down the rough buildups( not too harsh of a scrub, as that can create more problems) with a paddleboard. Diabetics should be extra careful by receiving a lighter exfoliation. Manicures are also essential to maintain health to the skin and appendages; and prevent nail brittleness and cracking. A warm hand soaking, followed by a warm/hot oil treatment to the nails/hands, not only keeps your paws maintained...it feels wonderful.

Spring is the perfect season for a full body scrub. Please refer to the website Facials Of Essence Ojai - Welcome BODY TREATMENTS. This full body exfoliation sheds the dull, lifeless skin and rebirths a fresh and re-enlivening to our earth suits. Spring is the most glorious time to "Let the snake out of it's cage" and welcome in a radiant, fresh exhuberance to the flesh tissues. Dismiss the old and make room for the new. Remember the WINESKIN PRINCIPLE.

And the season would not be complete without a SPRING FACIAL. The website refers to a variety of facial services. Many of them address complexions with skin disorders resulting directly from liver imbalances.

The face and body may expose what most folks care not to admit or discuss. Most commonly know as brown spots, age spots, or liver spots. They can be addressed through a variety of natural skin care services and products. Or depending on the deepness, more aggressive procedures are available by a dermatologist, such as a chemical peel or laser. These spots require patience, as they want to make your skin their home. I refer to them as your own homemade tattoo. If you think about the livers color...reddish brown and when toxic-black, this organ artfully exposes the same colors on our skin. And they won't come off with soap & water.

Another sign of a liver in need of attention, are the iradic breakouts around the lips, and yellow/white sebum buildup around the sides of the nose. The nose may be extra sensitive, chapped and red also. Rosacea(a rashy skin disorder that exposes the livers hostile emotion)and spring display facial fireworks! This condition presents many challenges, as it can show up very bright, itch and is difficult to disguise. It's triggers are stressful lifestyle, meds, alcohol, nicotine, sleeplessness, caffeine, sun exposure, ineffective skin care products all in excess. Each episode is recorded in the brain, and the liver is right there to keep score! Your complexion is a reflection of your body's inventory of events, abuses, proper and improper care, and warnings of internal disturbances.

*Inquire about the NATURAL LITHIUM INFUSED FACIAL TREATMENT or the ETHERIC KERATIN, COLLAGEN BOOSTING FACIAL TREATMENT.

And finally, there is so much more to share about the liver, it's needs and functions. Remember, the liver is the great emperor filterer, all year round. However it shows up, in it's full color and serves as discilplinary, correction officer in the springtime. It shines RED HOT in the emotion of anger. Do you find a frenzy of emotions showing up this season, in the form of indecisiveness, fear, sensitivity and irritability? Are you watching those around you and the world, spiking explosive and unexplained behaviors and attitudes? Rantings?

If so, then the liver demands your attention. And will bully-up for answers.

Take action, and armor up with healthy practices, lighten your load, love your liver. Remember... the LESS IS MORE principle!

I hope this info can serve as an inspiration and education, to allow yourself a health and wellness "spring fling" to make you and your liver happy! It's intention is to grab your attention, love yourself and to remind you of so many modalities to consider for your optimum health, beauty and wellness.

~ UNTIL NEXT TIME...TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF

AND MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOUR DAY.
