Welcoming Autumn - Staying Healthy With The Seasons

Autumn ~ mesmerizing season of nurturing the whole being with playfulness, family, friend relationships and deep love bonding.

Creativity becomes vibrantly alive.

What a gorgeous palate of soft, golden sunrises, impressionist pastel sunsets.

Nature’s canopy of colors, fragrances, plentiful outdoor & indoor nurturing activities. Hill hiking, beach strolls, Spa destinations. And God’s perfect grace providing us everything we need to welcome in a transition.

Mother nature works with an invitation to abide by the laws of nature. We become lulled to bed earlier with the time change and the intimacy of the weather travels deeply into the soul and bone chemistry. It is a time for deep reflection of ones life, a deep, inherit love for nature, but particularly, appreciation for those we love.

It is a time of tribute to gratitude for everything God blesses us with.

It's a wonderfully radiant, yet fickle season. Just as the weather begins to show it's cool personality, Mother Nature springs some very challenging "Hot Flashes"!

While the seering heat provides just the perfect culture to gift us with the most fragrant fall produce harvest, our human bodies should step into it with mindful caution. Autumn provides us with plenty of clues to abide by, to make this season direct our attention to sun exposure, nature’s products abounding all around us (oh the abundance of delectibles- fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, nuts & spices, roots, brilliant squashes and smiling pumpkins).  A shift is necessary to maintain optimum health for our internal climates (emotions) and protect us from the external climates.

The ruling organs of the autumn season are the lungs. Since the lungs correspond to the large intestine, both organs have to be treated together. The lungs are the stronghold and the root of breath. Their condition manifests itself in the skin and body hair.

*Tips for Welcoming fall and Staying Healthy With The Season:

~ “Essential breathing". Inhale long breaths deep into the tummy.
Lung First Aid: A few drops of a favorite(pure) Essential Oil rubbed into the palms of your hands and waft under the nose. We suggest the suggest the following essential oils:rosemary(bliss) lavender(relaxing) eucalyptus(stimulating). This will enhance your breathing experience and clear sinus buildup. Endorphins will be stimulated. *Exceptional for lung/headache

~ And always Remember to "Watch breath, soften belly, open heart". Stephen Levine

~ ”Nurture your digestion". Lighten your diet load. Consume foods from the Horn of Plenty. Mother Nature encourages our fall diet from all the choices listed in the beginning of the blog. Vegetable soups are highly recommended.

~ Remember that fried, processed foods and excessive dairy products can cause the skin to become extremely dry. The scalp and the eyebrows can more easily develop dandruff and cause dull and weakness to the hair follicle, producing snarls.  Avoid overeating. When your large intestine is too full, pressure is put on the lungs, causing them, and the heart, injury.

"Do those things that are good for your heart".

"Guard your heart above all else, for it is the wellspring of life” Proverbs 4:23

Sun exposure protection:

As we get further into the Fall/Winter season, our climate/weather atmosphere can change drastically, especially with the never-ending drought and climate change. Protecting your skin from the harmful sunrays during this season is Critical.

How does one choose a safe and effective sunblock? There are so many features to consider, because, not all sun blocks are created equal. Sometimes the SPF and main active ingredients contain so many toxic chemicals, that they can be more lethal to your skin than the sun itself.

Be cautious of the following substances: Oxybenzone, Occlinate, Honosalate, Octocrylene, and Avobenzone. These ingredients are Weapons of Mass Destruction and an assault to the skin. The higher the SPF, the risks grow higher for the product to contain irritating, carcinogenic and an unsuitable product for your skin.

The question that most ask..."then what is safe to use?".  There are some very nice, holistic sunscreens available. Look for 95% Certified organic, non-GMO, non-nano and cruelty-free. The more natural the sunblock, of course, the SPF will not be as strong. So you will have to decide, do you want a hammering of chemicals or a nurturing product? The key is moderation, avoiding exposure in the hotter part of the day, and generous reapplications throughout the day.

Always remember...the sun is always stronger than any sunblock!!!  Be mindful of your exposure to the sun, as our atmosphere is losing protection and precious ozone everyday.

*Health Food stores carry some of the following Holistic Sunblocks: Badger, Acure, Kabana Green and Babo Botanicals are just a few.
